This blog is all about our lives- a mom, a dad, and two sons. One of which has Autism and Sensory Processing Disorder. Surely, we live a "sensational" life.

Beast Mode
Can you imagine living in a perpetual state of "beast mode"? I can. This is every day with Mini Me. For those of you not familiar with the term "beast mode", beast mode is defined by the Urban Dictionary as :hype, energetic, outgoing, wilding out state of mind. From the minute that we wake up in the morning until I collapse in exhaustion in the evenings, Mini Me is non-stop beast mode. Screaming, yelling, jumping, flailing, spinning, crashing into everything, tackling the dog, hitting/kicking/biting/attacking his brother. It's constant. His mind and body don't rest, they rage. And then there's the parenting, that by necessity, also turns beast mode. Sprinting to catch Mini from running into traffic, physically restraining a screaming, flailing Mini to keep him from hurting himself and others, lifting a completely limp 55 pound Mini Me to move him when he is in full wet noodle melt down. By 4 in the afternoon I begin to wonder if I will make it another 4 hours until he goes to bed. And then by 9pm, when he is fast asleep and snoring blissfully, I look at his face an wonder how on God's green earth did I get chosen for such an insane and privileged job of being his mom.
